Cairns Detectives are investigating a serious assault that occurred on Abbott Street, between the intersections of Spence and Wharf Streets Cairns at about 11.30pm on Thursday April 21.
A 24-year-old woman and her friend had been out to dinner when a woman approached them and asked for a cigarette.
A verbal altercation took place before the 24-year-old was punched in the head by the woman, and was also punched by a second woman.
The victim sustained bruising to her eye and jaw, a sore neck and burns to her chest and stomach. She received treatment from the Cairns Base Hospital.
The women are described as being of Aboriginal appearance and aged in their mid 20s.
One is described as being thin and was wearing a black mini skirt, strapless leopard print stretch satin top and high heels.
The other is described as having a solid build, dark hair pulled back with a lighter colour at the back. She was wearing a black sleeveless dress and knee high boots.
